This piece is a really cool combination / association specimen from an uncommon locality in North Carolina. While minerals like Muscovite and Garnet are not rare around the world, the paragenesis of the two species on this particular specimen is fascinating as the Garnet (either Almandine or Pyrope) is actually included completely WITHIN the Mica. The nature of the specimen is such so that it can easily be backlit, beautifully highlighting the glowing red Garnet crystal (which measures 8 mm) within the silvery-green Muscovite. You can see in the close-up photo that the Garnet shows defined crystal faces as well! A wonderful and interesting piece that would make a unique addition to any collection.
