Tablecloth: Quartz, with Chlorite — Montgomery County, North Carolina, USA — Violet

This design begins with my photograph of a very fine specimen of Quartz with Chlorite from Montgomery County, North Carolina, USA. By reflecting and repeating its crystal forms, I gave the image a new symmetry. Across the design, the mineral’s crystal forms and intricate details form a pattern that still reveals the remarkable rock where it began.

About the Artist Color design

The pattern itself comes entirely from my original photograph of the mineral—its crystal forms, textures and structure are unchanged. Unlike my Original Color or Inverted Color designs, however, the colors here are my own choices. I have recolored the mineral image to create a palette that I think works especially well with the natural pattern created by the rock.

If you have a particular color scheme in mind, let me know. I can often create a custom color version of the same mineral pattern to coordinate with your room, table, clothing, or other design.
